What They Do: Enhance flavors and odors already present in foods (without providing their own separate flavor); add specific flavors (natural and synthetic).

All of these are unnatural products, and can never be considered real. They allow food manufacturers to create substandard products, with low quality ingredients, yet make them taste much better than they should. This often is achieved by directly affecting the brain into thinking it is eating something better than it is.

Many of these ingredients have a long history of causing severe damage to humans. The political corruption involved in this part of the industry has begun to be exposed, however, because the corruption goes very deep into the various regulatory bodies throughout the globe, very little has been achieved in removing these from our food chain. More of these products are added than are removed. "Clean labeling" is notorious in this particular ingredient type, and makes it very difficult for the average buyer to realize exactly what they're buying, and how much danger is attached to these types of products.

These ingredients have no place for the home cook.
