This is a nice light tasting smoothie. It makes a nice first smoothie for those not used to the thickness of some smoothies, as this one is more liquidy.

When you eat gluten free, there are a number of additives used in packaged drinks that you'll need to avoid, and making your own smoothies is a great way to solve this.

You can optionally sweeten this with stevia. The stevia I'm referring to is the concentrated stevia extract or powder with absolutely no other fillers or ingredients, preferably organic. This is a processed product, and some people get a negative reaction to it, or don't like it. But it's worth trying it if you're looking to reduce your sugar intake. Avoid using the stevia blends that are popular, as they contain a lot of fillers, additives, flavorings and sugar, that can cause digestive upset.

You can also use organic dried and ground stevia leaf, or make a sweet water with it by brewing it like coffee and then reducing the liquid by boiling it.

Use all organic ingredients.

Ingredients:
2 cups Cantaloupe, chopped
1/2 Lime, the juice of
1/2 cup Fresh coconut water (from a fresh coconut) or water
1 cup Crushed ice
Optional Sweetener - choose 1:
1 to 2 tablespoons Honey, raw and unfiltered
1 to 2 tablespoons Date Sugar
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon Pure stevia liquid or powder (no fillers or additives)
Directions:
  • Cut cantaloupe into big chunks, juice the lime and remove coconut water from coconut.
  • Blend cantaloupe, lime juice, honey or date sugar or stevia if using, coconut water or water and ice. Serve.

Enjoy!

Mmmmm....this is making me super thirsty. I wish I saw this before I headed off to the store today.
